SMK-37 Pro: experimental FL Studio port

Support me on Ko-fi

Run the SMK-37 Elite V016 application on an M-VAVE SMK-37 Pro using Pro-compatible update packaging and an FL controller profile.

Experimental: demonstrated on one Pro with Windows and FL Studio 2025. The owner confirmed display feedback, controller response and working toggles after duplicate MIDI routing was corrected. Build 916 is a project identifier, not an official M-VAVE release. This is a binary transplant, not firmware rebuilt from source.

Start here

Complete setup checklist: downloads, build, backup, firmware installation, profiles and FL Studio.

Download the tested firmware package, manifest, checksums and installation notice from v0.1.2-experimental release assets. Read the installation guide before flashing. Firmware alone does not configure the profile or FL Studio.

Alternatively, download the two official V016 packages and reproduce the same firmware locally:

python tools/download_official.py
python tools/prepare_release.py inputs/pro.fwsc inputs/elite.fwsc
python -m unittest discover -s tests -v

The official Elite download is not the finished Pro-compatible port. The builder combines the pinned inputs and checks the exact demonstrated output hash. Neither command flashes a keyboard or publishes firmware.

Included

  • Hash-checked vendor downloader and offline firmware builder.
  • Offline profile converter and guarded MIDI profile backup/apply/restore tool.
  • Original Elite script revision verification and version-checked event/light patches.
  • Build, advanced installation, FL setup, recovery and validation instructions.
  • Tests and GitHub CI.

No portable, hardware-validated turnkey firmware flasher is included. The demonstration used a restricted community loader and an engineering host. INSTALLATION.md documents that route and the remaining gap. The new portable Mido profile adapter has offline tests; its physical validation is pending.

Guides

  1. Complete setup and required downloads
  2. Validation and compatibility
  3. Build and expected checksums
  4. Backup and advanced firmware installation
  5. Controller profiles, FL script and MIDI routing
  6. Recovery and return-to-stock boundaries
  7. Technical notes
  8. Release notes and maintainer publishing guide

Generated firmware is distributed as a release asset and remains ignored in Git. It contains the manufacturer's Elite V016 application; the MIT license applies to original project tools/documentation, not that application. Full vendor scripts, community loader binaries, personal profiles, calibration data and flash dumps are not bundled. Keep backups private. See attribution.

Credits

This port builds on genkigenki's SMK hardware/porting research and SMK firmware projects, including the Makkuro37 restricted loader used during the experiment. JieLi format, extraction and ROM tools by kagaimiq were essential; see jl-misctools and jl-uboot-tool. The FL application and host integration are M-VAVE's. Full provenance and license boundaries are in THIRD_PARTY.md.
