Community guidelines

Reverbose works because people can trust what they find here. These rules apply to all firmware, threads and comments.

Last updated 29 October 2026

Open source only

  • Firmware here comes from a public GitHub repository with its source code in it. Closed binaries are not listed.
  • Use a recognised open-source license. Repos without one are shown with a warning, because nobody can tell what they may do with the code.
  • Only list repos you control on GitHub (your account, or an organisation where you installed the Reverbose GitHub App).

No paid firmware

  • Firmware listed here is free to download and use. A paywall, licence key or payment to unlock a build is not allowed.
  • Links that let people support a creator (sponsorships, donations, a shop for hardware) are fine, as long as nothing listed depends on paying.

Credit stays with creators

  • Keep upstream authors and licenses intact. A fork must be a distinct project and say what it is based on.
  • Do not list someone else’s work as yours, or copy their README, images or release notes into a firmware page of your own.
  • Ports to new hardware credit the original project in the README.

Describe it plainly

  • Say what it is: firmware, a mod, a tool, a patch, a port, a build. Say which models and hardware revisions it runs on.
  • Be honest about risk: if installing can require a recovery flash, say so and link the recovery steps.
  • No circumventing copy protection, licensing checks or other manufacturers’ paid features.

Be good to each other

  • Discuss the work, not the person. No harassment, hate or personal attacks.
  • No spam, vote trading, fake accounts or automated posting.
  • No malware, hidden network access or anything that does something the README does not say.

When something breaks the rules

Use Report in the ··· menu on any firmware page, thread or comment. Moderators review reports, can delist firmware or remove content, and repeated or serious breaches end in an account being closed. Rights holders: see takedown requests.
