ESTAMPIE 0.3.7: installs with m-bootloader both ways, and helps you out of the Felucca loop.
Install it from the browser at https://fm-1.drewr.dev/estampie/webapp/installer/ (Chrome or Edge), or install the
.fwscwith FM1Kit or FM-SWITCH. Try it first in your browser at https://fm-1.drewr.dev/estampie/webapp/emu/.What's new
- m-bootloader friendly: ESTAMPIE's USB update now takes any well-made package, after Charles Vestal's fix to Felucca's platform (felucca-bsp
afd83ed, MPL-2.0). On an FM-1 with Julius Vitkauskas's m-bootloader, ESTAMPIE installs over it and keeps it, and from ESTAMPIE you can install official V15 (which brings M-VAVE's own bootloader back), M-VAVE's Open V12 and V14, or m-bootloader's own installer. Tested on an FM-1: ESTAMPIE over m-bootloader, V15 from ESTAMPIE, and m-bootloader back on (Open V12 and V14 not yet tried). - Out of the Felucca loop: with m-bootloader installed, firmwares on Felucca's older update code (Felucca, GHOULBOX and ESTAMPIE before 0.3.7, among others) install each other but refuse official V15. Install ESTAMPIE 0.3.7, then return to V15 or install anything else from there. The user guide's new "With m-bootloader" section explains it, and that the recovery menu's wipe erases your projects and samples.
- For developers:
./build.shnow writesbuild/estampie.fwsc(and.bin,.elf), notfelucca.*. - Built from source, and signed, like every release since 0.3.1: check a file with
gh attestation verify estampie-0.3.7.fwsc --repo ocean/estampie --signer-workflow zvenson/fm1-build/.github/workflows/build.yml, or rebuild it and compare withtools/verify_release.sh 0.3.7.
Thank you to Charles Vestal for the update fix, Julius Vitkauskas for m-bootloader, and Leo Kuroshita, Jason Persinger and everyone in the README and CREDITS.md. This is early work. Make a backup before you install.

ESTAMPIE 0.3.6: the page key is SEL, as printed on the FM-1.
Install it from the browser at https://fm-1.drewr.dev/estampie/webapp/installer/ (Chrome or Edge), or install the
.fwscwith FM1Kit or FM-SWITCH. Try it first in your browser at https://fm-1.drewr.dev/estampie/webapp/emu/.What's new
- SEL, not SCL: the FM-1's panel prints SEL on the key that opens the scale page, but Felucca called it SCL. Now the on-screen HELP, the SEL layer's header, the first-tap hint ("HOLD SEL QUICK") and the panel test all say SEL, and so do the user guide, its panel diagram and the browser emulator's panel. The page itself is still called SCL on the screen, and so is its KNOB 2, the scale.
- The screen reader calls it the "scale button", since "SEL" alone already means MIDI's selected track.
- Your projects and other firmwares: the README now says what happens to saved projects when you change firmware. ESTAMPIE opens Felucca's and GHOULBOX's projects. Felucca can't open ESTAMPIE's: it shows them as EMPTY, but leaves them in the flash. Back them up with the web editor first.
- On the FM-1 Firmware Hub: ESTAMPIE's card text and its emulator and editor links are in
fmhub.json. - Built from source, and signed, like every release since 0.3.1: check a file with
gh attestation verify estampie-0.3.6.fwsc --repo ocean/estampie --signer-workflow zvenson/fm1-build/.github/workflows/build.yml, or rebuild it and compare withtools/verify_release.sh 0.3.6.
Thank you to Leo Kuroshita, Jason Persinger and everyone in the README and CREDITS.md. This is early work. Make a backup before you install.

ESTAMPIE 0.3.5: INFO shows ESTAMPIE's own version.
Install it from the browser at https://fm-1.drewr.dev/estampie/webapp/installer/ (Chrome or Edge), or install the
.fwscwith FM1Kit or FM-SWITCH. Try it first in your browser at https://fm-1.drewr.dev/estampie/webapp/emu/.What's new
- MENU › INFO's FIRMWARE row now shows ESTAMPIE's version (0.3.5) instead of Felucca's 1.6.1, and the screen reader says it too. ABOUT still credits Felucca 1.6.1, which ESTAMPIE is built on.
- Screens in the README: eleven of ESTAMPIE's screens in the VELLUM and TAVERN looks, taken from the firmware's own drawing code by
tools/screens.sh. They're indocs/screens/. - How ESTAMPIE is made: the README has an AI disclaimer, and docs/AI.md explains what AI is and isn't used for, following Leo Kuroshita's note for Felucca.
- A smaller build download: the build now fetches only the three files it needs from JieLi's AC79 SDK (2.9 MB), not the whole SDK with its Windows tools.
- On a Mac, if a DAW still shows the FM-1 as "Felucca" after 0.3.4, remove it in Audio MIDI Setup › MIDI Studio and plug it in again: macOS remembers the old name.
- Built from source, and signed, like every release since 0.3.1: check a file with
gh attestation verify estampie-0.3.5.fwsc --repo ocean/estampie --signer-workflow zvenson/fm1-build/.github/workflows/build.yml, or rebuild it and compare withtools/verify_release.sh 0.3.5.

ESTAMPIE 0.3.4: the FM-1 now introduces itself as ESTAMPIE.
Install it from the browser at https://fm-1.drewr.dev/estampie/webapp/installer/ (Chrome or Edge), or install the
.fwscwith FM1Kit or FM-SWITCH. Try it first in your browser at https://fm-1.drewr.dev/estampie/webapp/emu/.What's new
- Its own name on USB: a computer now sees the FM-1 as FM-1 ESTAMPIE, for both its MIDI port and its audio input, instead of "Felucca". While updating, it shows as "FM-1 ESTAMPIE Update". So the FM-1 Firmware Hub, installers and music software can tell what's installed.
- If you record or play the FM-1 in a DAW, choose "FM-1 ESTAMPIE" as the MIDI port or audio input once after updating. On a Mac, if it still shows the old name, remove the FM-1 in Audio MIDI Setup and plug it in again.
- A steadier tempo underneath: Felucca's fix from Leo Kuroshita (#282): the effects' tempo-synced timing never divides by a tempo of 0, even for the moment a project is loading.
- The editor and the tools find the FM-1 under either name, so older ESTAMPIE versions still work with them.
- Built from source, and signed, like every release since 0.3.1: check a file with
gh attestation verify estampie-0.3.4.fwsc --repo ocean/estampie --signer-workflow zvenson/fm1-build/.github/workflows/build.yml, or rebuild it and compare withtools/verify_release.sh 0.3.4.

ESTAMPIE 0.3.2: a small tidy-up release for the website, with a security update to one of the build's tools.
Install it from the browser at https://fm-1.drewr.dev/estampie/webapp/installer/ (Chrome or Edge), or install the
.fwscwith FM1Kit or FM-SWITCH. Try it first in your browser at https://fm-1.drewr.dev/estampie/webapp/emu/.What's new
- The licences open in your browser again: the website has moved to GitHub Pages, which downloaded the licence instead of showing it. The licence, the licensing notes and the official V15 firmware's notes are now plain
.txtpages. - A safer build: the pictures on the FM-1's screen are drawn while building with Pillow, which is now 13.0.0, fixing nine advisories against 12.3.0 (one critical). Pillow only runs during the build and was never part of the firmware, so earlier releases are unaffected.
- A pixel tidier: with the new Pillow, a couple of the on-screen button labels (OCT- and OCT+) sit a pixel differently. Nothing else on the device changes.
- Built from source, and signed, like 0.3.1: GitHub built this release from the tagged commit through the FM-1 Firmware Hub's shared workflow and signed every file. Check one with
gh attestation verify estampie-0.3.2.fwsc --repo ocean/estampie --signer-workflow zvenson/fm1-build/.github/workflows/build.yml, or rebuild it yourself and compare withtools/verify_release.sh 0.3.2.
Thanks
Thank you to zvenson, keremimo and Ignis32 for the FM-1 Firmware Hub and its build workflow, to the Pillow maintainers for their quick fixes, to Charles Vestal for fm1-reader, to Jason Persinger's GHOULBOX and Leo Kuroshita's Felucca (Hügelton Instruments), and to everyone in the README and CREDITS.md.

v0.3.1ESTAMPIE 0.3.15 files
ESTAMPIE 0.3.1: the first release built and signed by GitHub, so you can check that it came from this source.
Install it from the browser at https://fm-1.drewr.dev/estampie/webapp/installer/ (Chrome or Edge), or install the
.fwscwith FM1Kit or FM-SWITCH. Try it first in your browser at https://fm-1.drewr.dev/estampie/webapp/emu/.What's new
- Built from source, and signed: this release wasn't built on anyone's computer.
- GitHub built it from the tagged commit, using the FM-1 Firmware Hub's shared workflow (zvenson/fm1-build), and ran the tests first.
- GitHub then signed a build attestation for every file: the firmware, the app and the website.
- The hub shows ESTAMPIE as Built from source, linking the exact commit and the public build log.
- Check it yourself:
gh attestation verify estampie-0.3.1.fwsc --repo ocean/estampie --signer-workflow zvenson/fm1-build/.github/workflows/build.yml. A signature tells you where a file came from, not that it's safe; the source is all here to read. - Reproducible: building the same tag on your own computer (
tools/release.sh 0.3.1) gives the same files, byte for byte, andtools/verify_release.sh 0.3.1compares them. The website zip is now reproducible too. - Everything from 0.3.0: the screen reader for the FM-1 and the browser version, ESTAMPIE's own words for it, and the new preview picture. The firmware itself is unchanged apart from its version number.
Thanks
Thank you to zvenson and the FM-1 Firmware Hub, and to keremimo and Ignis32, for the shared build workflow and the idea behind it: a firmware anyone can trace back to its source. Thanks as ever to Charles Vestal for fm1-reader, to Jason Persinger's GHOULBOX and Leo Kuroshita's Felucca (Hügelton Instruments), and to everyone in the README and CREDITS.md.

v0.3.0ESTAMPIE 0.3.0 - the reader release5 files
ESTAMPIE 0.3.0, the reader release: the FM-1's screen can now be read aloud, so you can play and edit ESTAMPIE without seeing its screen.
Install it from the browser at https://fm-1.drewr.dev/estampie/webapp/installer/ (Chrome or Edge), or install the
.fwscwith FM1Kit or FM-SWITCH. Try it first in your browser at https://fm-1.drewr.dev/estampie/webapp/emu/.What's new
- A screen reader for the FM-1 (new): ESTAMPIE tells a screen reader on your computer what its screen shows, using Charles Vestal's fm1-reader.
- Plug the FM-1 in, open https://charlesvestal.github.io/fm1-reader/ in Chrome or Edge, and press Connect. It reads with its own voice, or hands the words to your own screen reader (VoiceOver, NVDA, JAWS, TalkBack).
- When it connects, or when you ask: the track and its sound, the page and its four knobs, the steps that are on, and whether it's playing.
- As you play: each new page with its knobs, a knob's value once you stop turning it, the menu's rows with their place ("3 of 8"), the sound the PRESETS knob picks, and messages. Warnings are read in full, questions come with the buttons that answer them, and each letter is read as you name a sound or a project.
- ESTAMPIE's own words: "ATK 12 ms" is read as "attack 12 milliseconds" and "DLVL" as "drone level". There are 276 words in all, checked against fm1-reader's rules with no errors. The words come from this site, so they cost the firmware no flash.
- No change for other software: the FM-1 says nothing until a reader asks, so a DAW on the same USB port sees nothing new.
- The browser version reads its screen too: under its panel, choose Your screen reader or This page's voice, then use Read the whole screen and Say it again.
- A new preview picture for links to the repository and the site.
Good to know
- This is new and tested in the simulator and the browser version; please tell us how it goes on a real FM-1.
- Firmware size: the screen reader adds about 6 KB, with about 34 KB still free.
- The guide's chapter 20 has a new section, "A screen reader": https://fm-1.drewr.dev/estampie/guide/
Thanks
Huge thanks to Charles Vestal for fm1-reader, and for making it something every FM-1 firmware can share. ESTAMPIE is built on Jason Persinger's GHOULBOX and Leo Kuroshita's Felucca (Hügelton Instruments), with thanks to everyone listed in the README and CREDITS.md.

v0.2.0ESTAMPIE 0.2.05 files
ESTAMPIE's first release: mediæval groovebox firmware for the M-VAVE FM-1, a fork of GHOULBOX and Felucca.
Install it from the browser at https://fm-1.drewr.dev/estampie/webapp/installer/ (Chrome or Edge), or install the
.fwscwith FM1Kit or FM-SWITCH. Try it first in your browser at https://fm-1.drewr.dev/estampie/webapp/emu/. The installer can also put official firmware V15 back, and its factory sounds too. What's in it
- A groovebox for mediæval dance music: hurdy-gurdy, lute, recorder and tabor in the TROTTO scene, plus shawms, bagpipes, harps, psalteries, chant and the church modes and old tunings. It's all drawn as a manuscript page: vellum, iron-gall ink, vermilion and lapis.
- KEY TOUCH (new): velocity and aftertouch from the FM-1's own keys, with no hardware change, after Charles Vestal's Velo and MONK-1.
- Turn it on at MENU › AUDIO › KEY TOUCH.
- Calibrate it at MENU › SYSTEM › CALIBRATION › KEY TOUCH. Each key also learns your touch as you play.
- Aftertouch reaches the MOD matrix's AT source, so you can route AT → CUT on a shawm.
- It works on the 20 keys from F3 to C5.
- Web installer: official V15 bundled, sturdier connecting, a check that the right build is installed, and an optional full backup before installing.
- Editor: sounds, patterns, songs, samples and backups over USB MIDI. Project saves are checked against the FM-1.
- Guide: a full user guide at https://fm-1.drewr.dev/estampie/guide/.
Thanks
ESTAMPIE is built on Jason Persinger's GHOULBOX and Leo Kuroshita's Felucca (Hügelton Instruments). It also draws on Charles Vestal's X0X, Velo and MONK-1, Kerem Kilic's Melodee, and others listed in the README and CREDITS.md.
This is early work, tested on one FM-1. Make a backup before you install.
