ZEN-1 1.2: ambient firmware for the M-VAVE FM-1.

• The panel's lights (ENV): On, Auto or Off, kept across power-offs. Auto puts every light out after 30 seconds with nothing touched and brings them back at a touch; Off keeps the panel dark, for a dark room (everything still works). The status card (tap HOME) shows the setting. The koto keeps its own lights. Thanks to ghostly606-gmcg for asking.
• A Key page (FX's fifth): Key (the mood's, or C to B), Scale (the mood's, or Yo, In or Min'yo), Chord (Moving, or Held on the home chord) and Drift (Off, Slow or Often), one setting for every mood and scene, to play along in your key. The drone and the notes glide to a new key or scale. Thanks to anubispop for asking.
• The koto's big instrument names take half the flash (4 shades instead of 16; the same to the eye).

ZEN-1 1.1: ambient firmware for the M-VAVE FM-1.

• Sakura: the clouds drift smoothly, a pixel at a time (slow ones had flickered back and forth as they went); the water right beside the tree's trunk no longer shows still specks of pale blue; the sun's glitter on the water is gone (it read as static).
• Sakura at night: the moon is Hotaru's (it had been a plain white disc): its face from a real map, a new phase and size each picture, a soft glow; it rises over the hills at the hour its phase really does, crosses behind the tree and the clouds and sets toward dawn. In the Night mood it stands clear of the tree, on the right.
• A new moon each night (Natural): Sakura and Hotaru take another phase each time the cycle comes round, so a long listen sees the moon change, but never in sight: Sakura's changes at noon; Hotaru's moon pales into the dawn twilight and the next night's comes out of the dusk.
• Koi: the frogs drawn anew: no dark outline (they read as black lines on the pads), shaded in their own colors with a wet shine and a small shadow, their legs folded at their sides, raised eyes. They face the way they jump, leap with their legs stretched out and their shadow on the water below, make the pad bob as they land and splash as they dive in, and blink, breathe and turn a little while they sit. They always come up out of open water and dive back into it, never onto or off the stones at the edge.
• Koi at night: the lantern's glow on the moss and its light on the water drawn anew (a smooth warm wash, and shimmering streaks on the ripples, in place of dotted patterns), a flame in its firebox; and a second lantern, a low snow-viewing lantern (yukimi-dōrō), at the top right. Each lantern's light breathes slowly on its own, never in step with the other.
• Hotaru: the clouds drawn anew: soft wisps in the sky's own colors (no cross-hatching), with uneven edges, silvered near the moon, veiling it smoothly as they cross. The mist drawn anew the same way: smooth fog (no cross-hatching) in drifting wisps that thicken and part, a little brighter under the moon, rising and thinning toward dawn; the reeds stand in front of it, a firefly's light spreads softly in it, and the farmhouse window glows warm through it.

• Sakura: the water behind the tree's trunk moves like the rest of the river (its reflection had stayed still), and the light's streaks and the rain's rings come anywhere on the river.

• Sakura: the far bank's reflection now reaches across the whole river, behind the tree's trunk too. The trunk had hidden the water to its left and cut a wedge out of the reflection to its right.
