Force Link Audio 1.1.0 — OpenMPC add-in
Publish the Force's stereo main mix as a Link Audio channel while keeping the Force standalone. By Mac Digi / Rare Data, originally built for the COMPA project.
This release adds the OpenMPC catalog package and shared installer. The audio tap stays small; the Link Audio publisher remains a separate process and now exits when its MPC parent exits. The build targets armhf/glibc 2.31; other MPC hardware is unverified.
Network audio is off by default. Read README-addin.txt, disable the old MockbaMod ForceLinkAudio addon if present, then install the new package. Set
enabled=1in the installed settings only when you want to publish audio on your trusted LAN. Save your project before the installer restarts MPC.Original legacy releases remain available. This package uses the unmodified OpenMPC shared installer and preserves other preload entries. See INSTALL.md for its changes and uninstall procedure, including the shared boot-reload integration.
Source: the matching tag in this repository. GPL-2.0-or-later; third-party notices are included. Thanks to sd88me/OpenMPC, MockbaMod contributors and Amit Talwar.
Verification
Catalog validation, 12 config-parser cases, 77 shared-installer checks and the isolated ARM lifecycle test passed. Real Force installation, settings preservation and rollback passed. The owner confirmed normal local sound and controls while looping a saved project. A Mac Link Audio receiver captured 641,000 non-silent stereo frames with no clipping. Other MPC models remain unverified.

Fixes a beat-cursor bug that made receivers drop out, and hardens the audio tap.
Everyone on 1.0.0 should update. The old beat cursor was rewritten retroactively by any tempo change, so once a couple of Link peers were on the network the stream walked off the receiver's read window and dropped out — worse the longer it ran. Measured on hardware, a receiver's starve counter went from 27.8% of renders to 0.005%.
- Beat cursor accumulates per block; a tempo change now only moves future audio. Verified through live 130 → 90 → 140 BPM changes.
- Daemon binds 127.0.0.1 instead of INADDR_ANY. Previously anyone on the same network could publish audio as your instrument.
- Shim init moved off MPC's real-time audio thread (it was doing
fopen/malloc/pthread_createinsidesnd_pcm_writei). - Explicit release/acquire on the ring buffer — this is a weakly-ordered quad-core ARMv7.
- A queue spill no longer discards the whole half-second buffer.
- Ships
BUILDINFOwith source and binary hashes.
Install is unchanged: copy the
ForceLinkAudiofolder to<SD>/AddOns/, runsh install.sh, reboot. Updating over 1.0.0 just means replacing the two binaries.v1.0.0Force Link Audio 1.0.01 file
Publishes the Akai Force's main output as an Ableton Link Audio channel while the Force stays fully standalone. Pads lit, screen alive, no Computer Mode, nothing flashed.
Any Link Audio receiver picks it up: Ableton Live, an iPad, another machine on the LAN.
Install
Copy the
ForceLinkAudiofolder to<SD>/AddOns/on your MockbaMod card, then over SSH:cd /media/662522/AddOns/ForceLinkAudio sh install.shReboot. It starts itself from then on.
install.shrestores the exec bits that zip strips, so do run it rather than copying by hand.Notes
- Stereo main mix. The Force presents 4 channels to ALSA but 3/4 are silent, so no per-track stems this way.
- Latency you see is the receiver's buffering, not the addon's. Audio measured transparent through Ableton Live against the Force's own headphone output.
- Tested on MockbaMod, Force firmware 3.x, kernel 6.6.95, armv7l. Only one machine so far — reports very welcome.
- GPLv2-or-later. Sources included. Links Ableton Link (© Ableton AG), used under its GPL branch.
