  1. v0.9FM-1_DelRio 0.9Latest1 file

A ceremony rhythm box for the M-VAVE FM-1, by Jess Del Rio. Tested on an FM-1.

    New in 0.9:

    • The battery, top right. Three bars, the outline red when it is empty; USB while a computer powers the FM-1. The keys' velocity holds the converter that reads it, so every 10 s, with no key down, it is let go for 2 ms.
    • Slower berimbau toques. A quarter slower than a roda plays them, for the ceremony: ANGOLA at 90 (its quarter note at 45), SB GRANDE at 132, SB REGIONAL at 136. OCT− / OCT+ still set the tempo; a toque saved by 0.8 keeps its tempo until another is chosen.
    • The sitar is out. FX goes round the kit, the berimbau, the tanpura and the shruti.
    • Fixes from a code review. A stroke in the count-in's last half step lands on the first step; choosing a rhythm no longer leaves an instrument silent; SETUP shown over a drone takes the knobs; the screen reader says the drones and their knobs; the tanpura stopped and started again starts afresh; a drum's fifth stroke at once fades its oldest out instead of cutting it (no click).
    • Lighter audio. The shruti computes only its open or fading reeds. The rhythms and the tanpura sound exactly as before.

Settings and rhythms saved by 0.8 are kept.

Install: delrio-0.9.fwsc with fm1-base's web installer (Chrome or Edge, Web MIDI), or from the hub. Identity FM-1_48000900; it brings Felucca's update loader. It keeps only its own settings and rhythms, and does not read other firmwares' projects or samples.

Open source under the MPL-2.0. The sounds keep their own licences (app/kit/CREDITS.txt); the opening's pictures are Jess Del Rio's.

  2. v0.8FM-1_DelRio 0.81 file

A ceremony rhythm box for the M-VAVE FM-1, by Jess Del Rio. Tested on an FM-1.

    New in 0.8:

    • The sitar (FX). The keys play its main string, plucked as hard as the key, buzzing on its bridge; a key pressed harder pulls the string up (meend, up to 4 semitones on KNOB 3); its sympathetic strings (tarab) ring with the notes they are tuned to. PRESETS tunes them to one of the ten thaats (BILAWAL, KHAMAJ, KAFI, ASAVARI, BHAIRAVI, BHAIRAV, KALYAN, MARWA, PURVI, TODI), whose notes light on the keys; ALGORITHM sets Sa (the tanpura's). The screen shows each note in sargam.
    • More djembe rhythms. From Brazil: AFRO SAMBA, BOSSA NOVA, FUNK IJEXA, SAMBA DJEMBE, XOTE DJEMBE and AFOXE (as djembegorilla.com writes them). From West Africa: DJOLE and YANKADI (Paul Nas's box notations). 39 rhythms in all.
    • More berimbau toques. JOGO DE FORA, IDALINA, MIUDINHO, and CAVALARIA as its whole phrase (opencapoeira.com's notations).
    • The tanpura names its tunings SA PA, SA MA and SA NI.

The rhythms' places changed: FREE rhythms and settings saved by 0.7 start again from their defaults, once.

Install: delrio-0.8.fwsc with fm1-base's web installer (Chrome or Edge, Web MIDI), or from the hub. Identity FM-1_48000800; it brings Felucca's update loader. It keeps only its own settings and rhythms, and does not read other firmwares' projects or samples.

Open source under the MPL-2.0. The sounds keep their own licences (app/kit/CREDITS.txt); the opening's pictures are Jess Del Rio's.

  3. v0.7FM-1_DelRio 0.71 file

A ceremony rhythm box for the M-VAVE FM-1, by Jess Del Rio. Tested on an FM-1.

    New in 0.7:

    • The opening: the cerrado's mesas at dusk. Jess Del Rio's scene in big pixels (80 × 80, 32 colours), the name written over it in the screen's own large letters. The maned wolf walks in from the left, his four legs stepping in turn, and stops before the setting sun. A key, a button or a knob skips it.

Everything else as in 0.6: the kit and its 31 rhythms, the berimbau and its toques, the tanpura's characters, the shruti's reeds or chords and its bellows in time, LFO's list of presets (KNOB 3 goes through it, LFO held chooses), OCT− / OCT+ the tempo.

Install: delrio-0.7.fwsc with fm1-base's web installer (Chrome or Edge, Web MIDI), or from the hub. Identity FM-1_48000700; it brings Felucca's update loader. It keeps only its own settings and rhythms, and does not read other firmwares' projects or samples.

Open source under the MPL-2.0. The sounds keep their own licences (app/kit/CREDITS.txt); the opening's pictures are Jess Del Rio's.

  4. v0.6FM-1_DelRio 0.61 file

A ceremony rhythm box for the M-VAVE FM-1, by Jess Del Rio. Tested on an FM-1.

    New in 0.6:

    • The opening, in big pixels. Jess Del Rio's picture of the cerrado at dusk, 80 × 80 pixels of 32 colours. Its maned wolf walks into it from the left and stands as he stands in it. His four legs step in turn: each foot stays on the ground while he goes over it, then lifts and comes forward. A key, a button or a knob skips it.
    • LFO's list stays. LFO shows the presets with their beats; KNOB 3 goes through them without changing anything; LFO held chooses the one shown; LFO again (or a page button) closes the list.

Everything else as in 0.5: the kit and its 31 rhythms, the berimbau and its toques, the tanpura's characters, the shruti's reeds or chords and its bellows in time, OCT− / OCT+ the tempo.

Install: delrio-0.6.fwsc with fm1-base's web installer (Chrome or Edge, Web MIDI), or from the hub. Identity FM-1_48000600; it brings Felucca's update loader. It keeps only its own settings and rhythms, and does not read other firmwares' projects or samples.

Open source under the MPL-2.0. The sounds keep their own licences (app/kit/CREDITS.txt); the opening's picture is Jess Del Rio's.

  5. v0.5FM-1_DelRio 0.51 file

A ceremony rhythm box for the M-VAVE FM-1, by Jess Del Rio. Tested on an FM-1.

    New in 0.5:

    • The shruti starts on its reeds one by one (NOTES): a key opens or closes its note, as in the first versions. PRESETS goes on to the chords a key plays (SA PA, MAJOR, MINOR) and round. The screen says NOTES under the reeds open, or the chord's name.

Everything else as in 0.4: the kit and its 31 rhythms, the berimbau and its toques, the tanpura's characters (MEDITATION, MANTRA, RAGA, KIRTAN), the shruti's bellows in time, LFO's list of presets, OCT− / OCT+ the tempo, the maned wolf at start.

Install: delrio-0.5.fwsc with fm1-base's web installer (Chrome or Edge, Web MIDI). Identity FM-1_48000500; it brings Felucca's update loader. It keeps only its own settings and rhythms, and does not read other firmwares' projects or samples. A shruti saved on SA PA in 0.4 stays there: PRESETS to NOTES, then SAVE.

Open source under the MPL-2.0. The sounds keep their own licences (app/kit/CREDITS.txt).

  6. v0.4FM-1_DelRio 0.41 file

A ceremony rhythm box for the M-VAVE FM-1, by Jess Del Rio. Tested on an FM-1.

    New in 0.4:

    • The tanpura's characters. ALGORITHM tunes its first string (Pa, Ma, Ni), as it picks the kit's beats. PRESETS sets its character, from the slowest: MEDITATION (7 s, a soft jawari), MANTRA (5 s, round), RAGA (4 s, the concert tanpura's open jawari), KIRTAN (3 s, bright). KNOB 1 the jawari (the strings' buzz on their bridge), KNOB 2 the cycle, KNOB 3 the register, KNOB 4 the level.
    • Half the flash for the sounds. The kit's samples are stored in 8 bits, in blocks of 16 that each keep their own scale: 440 KB → 233 KB, the noise about 44 dB under each block's loudest. The firmware's image goes from 568 KB to 357 KB of the 581 KB it may use. (The .fwsc file keeps its size: it carries the whole application area.)

Install: delrio-0.4.fwsc with fm1-base's web installer (Chrome or Edge, Web MIDI). Identity FM-1_48000400; it brings Felucca's update loader. It keeps only its own settings and rhythms. Settings saved by 0.3 are reset to their defaults once.

Open source under the MPL-2.0. The sounds keep their own licences (app/kit/CREDITS.txt).

  7. v0.3FM-1_DelRio 0.31 file

A ceremony rhythm box for the M-VAVE FM-1, by Jess Del Rio.

    New in 0.3:

    • The opening: a maned wolf (the lobo-guará of the cerrado) paces across the dusk in big pixels under the name. A key, a button or a knob skips it.
    • The berimbau in time: its toques twice as fast as in 0.2. The Cordão de Ouro's counts are the eighths of a 2/4 bar: ANGOLA 120, SB PEQUENO 140, BANGUELA 128, JOGO DE DENTRO 132, SB GRANDE 176, SB REGIONAL 180, CAVALARIA 184.
    • The shruti's bellows go back and forth in time: KNOB 1 sets how strongly they breathe (at the most, the sound falls away where the hand turns), KNOB 2 their tempo (a push, then a pull, a beat each), KNOB 3 the level.
    • The tanpura's PRESETS: Sa where the voices sit, named as singers name it on the harmonium, on Pa: MALE KALI 1 (C#), MALE SAFED 2 (D), MALE KALI 2 (D#), FEMALE KALI 4 (G#), FEMALE SAFED 6 (A), FEMALE KALI 5 (A#).

Install: delrio-0.3.fwsc with fm1-base's web installer (Chrome or Edge, Web MIDI), or from the hub. Identity FM-1_48000300; it brings Felucca's update loader. It keeps only its own settings and rhythms, and does not read other firmwares' projects or samples. Settings saved by 0.2 are reset to their defaults once (their record changed).

Open source under the MPL-2.0. The sounds keep their own licences (app/kit/CREDITS.txt).

  8. v0.2FM-1_DelRio 0.21 file

A ceremony rhythm box for the M-VAVE FM-1, by Jess Del Rio.

    • The kit: djembe, cajon, udu, clapsticks, maracas and triangle, their real strokes on the black keys, a step sequencer on the white keys, 31 rhythms from the literature grouped by beats.
    • The berimbau (FX) with its caxixi and its capoeira toques: Angola, São Bento Pequeno and Grande, Banguela, Cavalaria, Jogo de Dentro, São Bento Regional.
    • Two drones (FX): a tanpura with its buzzing jawari, and a shruti box whose chords stay held while the bellows breathe.
    • PRESETS loads a rhythm, a tuning or a chord; LFO lists them with their beats (held: the one shown is chosen); OCT− / OCT+ set the tempo (5 BPM a press, 10 held).

New in 0.2: clean berimbau and caxixi recordings, the drones' presets, LFO's list, OCT's tempo, the name DelRio.

Install: delrio-0.2.fwsc with fm1-base's web installer (Chrome or Edge, Web MIDI), or from the hub. Identity FM-1_48000200; it brings Felucca's update loader. It keeps only its own settings and rhythms, and does not read other firmwares' projects or samples.
