v0.4.6Bonsai 8 0.4.6 — playlist test candidateBeta3 files
Unattended validation update — October 17, 2026: this remains a candidate. New host tests found live-sync quality defects: deep-bass pitch drift (20 Hz →22.051 Hz at 1.125x) and repeated beat transients (71 onsets instead of60 in a rendered pulse test), despite nominal beat lock. No firmware binary was changed.
Recording passed a maximum eight-minute host simulation with every exported stereo frame exact, and the website passed a sixty-second native browser monitor test with synthetic input. These do not establish physical recording throughput or actual USB/speaker behavior. A failed final metadata acknowledgement can leave a take visible; check the library after a failed save. See the full validation report for reproducible checks and limits.
Bonsai 8 0.4.6 adds separate saved playlists for Deck A and B, sorted by each song's source BPM. Set BPM and A/B membership under On your player → Deck playlists · BPM order at https://sp-1.xyz/.
On the physical SP-1, tap FUNCTION to select a deck, then hold FUNCTION and tap the rocker to browse its playlist. The other deck continues playing. A newly loaded song is cued paused; tap PLAY to bring it into the mix. Unknown BPM sorts last. These labels do not automatically align beats or match keys.
This is a test candidate, not a fully verified release. It is the exact binary installed and checked on October 17, 2026.
- Passed: application-only flash/runtime confirmation; preservation of five song entries, eight metadata sectors and 51 representative audio sectors; playlist save/readback and restart persistence; independent browsing and wraparound on both decks. B transitions were sampled continuously; A changes were checked before/after.
- Passed: twenty-second eight-stem dry playback and USB audio with the actual site's connection code, zero new underruns/errors/clips. The USB capture was non-silent stereo. Combined audio/mirroring requires the current site's 100 ms mirror polling; older 30 ms polling caused dropouts. The display buffer is 160 ms.
- Still unverified: sustained recording/save/export, live-sync sound quality, actual browser speaker output, browser-driven flashing and longer-session endurance. Wide tempo changes can blur or repeat transients.
- Host checks: nine C sanitizer suites, 50 Python tests and 158 site tests.
Install: use Install Bonsai 8 in the footer at https://sp-1.xyz/. Application-only updates do not initialize song storage. Unknown stock-format storage is preserved and write-locked; that does not make stock-format music playable by this firmware. Flash acknowledgements are CRC checked; application-flash readback is unavailable.
